General Sessions
General Sessions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 8:15 a.m. showcasing keynote speakers with important messages for the e-learning practitioner. These sessions are an opportunity for all conference participants to come together and hear from the leaders in the profession. Keynote speakers offer insight and inspiration, current thinking and future trends on a range of topics of interest to participants. Wednesday and Thursday General Sessions will be followed by extended EXPO time.

On Friday, the Closing General Session, led by the 2010 Planning Advisory Committee and experts in the field, is an opportunity for attendees to come together and learn more from experts and peers. As well as integrate their learning from the conference, plan for tangible ways to implement that learning back on the job, and share ideas for future conferences. The Closing General Session will begin at 11:45 a.m. and close the conference on a high note.

Tracks & Sessions – January 27-29, 2010
Concurrent Education Sessions take place from Wednesday through Friday and are organized into five tracks. The overall schedule is designed to provide maximum time for sessions, visiting the EXPO, and networking throughout the day. Speakers are encouraged to deliver education sessions which focus on immediate application of your learning back-on-the-job.

Conference sessions are designed to give you an overview of a topic, updates on trends, best practices and case studies, and new technologies, techniques, and software to help you in your work. 80 sessions will be offered Wednesday through Friday. Sessions are developed according to eight Learning Approaches and directed at specific Target Audiences.

Creation Stations and Tech Intensives
Creation Stations
Remember labs from your school days, how much more you learned in the hands-on environment? Creation Stations are tech labs for adult learners. Each class is limited in size and seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Computers are provided for in-depth learning.

Each Creation Station will be repeated to allow more people to attend. Topics covered will include Flash Animation, Open Source Technologies, Collaborative Tools, Wikis, Podcasting, and more. See individual session descriptions for any prerequisites.

Tech Intensives
Tech Intensives are two hour intensives on topics requiring more depth and interactive delivery. 10 different topics will be offered; four will be hands-on using computers. Topics for 2010 include: Adobe Captivate, Low Cost Development, Virtual Facilitation and more.

Learning Labs
Back by popular demand! Learning Labs are designed to provide informal learning opportunities to gather with peers to discuss and anchor your learning experience. For 2010, Learning Labs will meet in Expo on Wednesday and Thursday: 12:30-1:15 pm. Each Lab will be led by a facilitator to provide an underlying structure and will be focused by the e-learning job functions listed below:

  • E-Learning Developer
  • Instructional Designer
  • Learning Executive/Director/Manager
